About Otley Choral Society

We are a four-part choir with around eighty members, drawn from Otley and the surrounding area. The society was formed in 1944, and we have performed many of the major choral works since then including Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Haydn’s Creation and more modern works by Rutter, Goodall and Taverner. We have performed Handel’s Messiah at Christmas for many decades, alternating the venue between Otley and Ilkley and this is always a highlight of the season.

We are delighted to keep strengthening our relationship with Ilkley Choral Society, with whom we stage most of our concerts. Our choral tradition remains strong and we continue to build on the foundations of more than eighty years. 

​Our rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings between 7pm and 9pm at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Farnley Lane, Otley LS21 2BB.
